Cafeteria Menus
Kid's Choice Café is an elementary healthy-choice breakfast and lunch program that encourages students to choose foods wisely and establish positive, lifelong eating habits. Kid’s Choice Café is in each of the district’s 132 elementary schools and promotes the theme “It’s Cool to Eat at School.” Kid’s Choice Café menus are distributed to each student and posted on the Food Services website.
Students choose from three entrées and a selection of fruits at breakfast. At lunch, students choose from three entrées and then go to a salad bar for salad, vegetables and fruits. A monthly "Harvest of the Month" fruit or vegetable is offered to add a bit of excitement. When available, fresh local fruits and vegetables are incorporated into the entrées and/or salad bar through the Farm to School initiative. A Kid’s Choice Café lunch is $2 unless the student qualifies for free or reduced-price meals. The lunch includes milk (not sold without milk unless a written statement from your doctor is on file with the cafeteria). The cost of breakfast or snack is $1. Those bringing lunch from home can purchase milk for 50 cents.
Some students qualify for the Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program. To find out if you are eligible, please complete an on-line meal application by clicking one of these options: English or Español.
Students can purchase their lunch with cash or check,or you can use a credit card and set up recurring payments through the PayPAMS system. Our school uses a Point of Sale program which provides a pin number account for each student. Students can purchase lunch on a daily basis or use their prepaid pin account. Parents are encouraged to purchase meals in advance for their child. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that their child has a positive meal account balance. To prepay into your child's account, submit a sealed envelope with cash or a check made out to Miramar Ranch Elementary. Please provide the following information on the face of the envelope:
- student's name
- student's birth date
- room number
- amount enclosed
The KC News is the monthly Kid’s Choice Café newsletter. It is published in English and Spanish. The newsletter is given to students to take home and is designed to be read by the entire family. The KC News features the “Harvest of the Month,” holiday and special promotions, new menu items and information on health and fitness.
